Examing the Truth Behind Campaign

Politifact.com, an independent, non-partisan service of the St. Petersburg Times and the Congressional Quarterly, checks the claims of the political campaigns for accuracy. They find that one campaign is MUCH more likely to misrepresent the facts than the other.  It appears the “Straight Talk Express” is not talking so straight to the American people.  See this story analyzing the claims of the two campaigns. Ongoing analysis of campaign rhetoric is available at this URL: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/ Another important point, two days ago the the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), a non-partisan, independent group that advocates for those who have fought in what the administration tells us are vital fronts in the war on terror, issued a report on the all of the members of congress and their records on support for veteran’s issues. They do NOT endorse a candidate, they simply examine records and grade the candidates. Since McCain and Obama were Senators, they are rated. John McCain was given a D.   Barack Obama a B.  McCain may be a veteran and have a son going to Iraq, but *McCain does not support veterans* according to the IAVA.  Again, they are non-pa rtisan and do not endorse either candidate.  I read this on Military.com, not in a liberal newpaper.  You can also read the full report here: http://www.veteranreportcard.org/  and search on your own representatives and senators.
Now, what about funding our troops currently in the field?  Obama is accused of voting against funding the Iraq war, and the McCain campain says this was a failure to fund our troops in the field.  Well, guess what, Obama voted against that bill *because it DID NOT include a timetable for withdrawal*.  Several months later McCain voted against an almost identical funding bill because *it DID include a timetable for withdrawal*.  So both men voted against funding, just for different reasons.  One wanted us out of Iraq, the other thought we needed to stay.     These guys–both of them–misrepresent.  I won’t say they lie because sometimes they just get things wrong, sometimes they tell half the story, and sometimes they have the facts correct, but both sides interpret them differently.  That’s why I love these sites.  They do it for you:  It comes with broad range of difficulties along purchase cialis online with hardships in wedded life; the other conditions consist of deprival of beneficial night-time sleep because of sleep apnea, societal in addition to mental difficulties, and risk of cardiac arrest, strokes, brain damages and atherosclerosis.
